As one of the renewable energy sources, wind power has achieved rapid development in recent years. As of the third quarter of 2020, the installed capacity of wind power reached 224GW. Experts predict that in the next few years, China's wind power industry will enter a new historical stage, gradually moving from a period of rapid development to a period of maturity and stability, and transforming from focusing on scale growth to focusing on quality improvement.

As an engineering reinsurer, Swiss Re's engineering insurance team has been actively promoting risk management in the renewable energy industry for many years, conducting industry-related risk management training and product development, and providing corresponding insurance protection. The wind power industry has a large investment scale and is a capital-intensive industry. Whether in the feasibility study stage or after the project is put into operation, power generation evaluation is the core step of a wind power project. The "Guidelines for Wind Farm Power Generation Evaluation" selects three time points for non-operational projects, operating projects, and when the insurance policy is in danger, and provides a comprehensive and widely applicable wind farm power generation evaluation method, so as to realize the application in different scenarios:

In the feasibility study stage, it can provide investors with third-party evaluation support when selecting wind power investment projects, and realize project financing optimization through comprehensive power generation evaluation;

Help wind farms to carry out effective management of expected power generation before and during operation in order to digest and reduce the pressure on wind farm operation and management caused by fluctuations in power generation as much as possible;

Provide evaluation support for the operation and maintenance company to formulate reasonable operation and maintenance goals, and achieve the optimal balance between operation and maintenance costs and contract risks;

Provide a relatively complete and reasonable power generation evaluation method for the insurance industry, and provide more basis and problem-solving ideas for insurance product development, actuarial pricing, risk assessment at the underwriting end, and loss assessment at the claim settlement end.
